South Australian Wines Win Triple Award

South Australia celebrates after three of its finest wines were awarded the highest possible score in one of the most authoritative wine guides worldwide.

According to News.com.au, the wines Torbreck 2010 Runrig (225), Clarendon Hills 2010, Astralis (500), and Penfolds Series One Fifty Year Old Tawny Port (3500) received 100-point scores in The Wine Advocate’s latest issue.

Penfolds has received a second 100-point score for its 2008 Penfold’s Grange. The winery hopes the award will have a similar impact as last year when it was awarded 100 points for its 2008 Penfold’s Grange.

Torbreck Vintners also welcomes the score, as they had some problems in 2013 when it was revealed that Dave Powell, chief winemaker of Torbreck Vintners, and US owner Peter Kight split up. Craig Isbel, Torbreck’s Craig Isbel, said it is great to see the focus shifted back to the quality of wine they produce rather than the dispute surrounding the split.

Lisa Perrotti Brown, who gave the perfect scores for each wine, said that the wines had unique, rare tastes and deserved perfect scores.
