Christmas Day: Where can I get emergency ice?
Ice is often overlooked when I check my Christmas shopping lists twice. This makes sense. Depending on where you are, ice may be a minor consideration in the days leading to Christmas. This is especially true if you have been shoveling snow or driving through it.
Ice is essential for Christmas day and night. Ice is needed for making cocktails, chilling champagne, filling coolers, and keeping your caviar or shrimp cocktail cool.
There is no quick way to make ice. It takes many hours for the water molecules in your freezer to form a solid crystal. Although you could buy ice at a store, many are closed during the day. Do you know who (probably) doesn’t close? McDonald’s. McDonald’s. (A company rep also stated to Pioneer Woman that most golden-arched establishments would be open. Who doesn’t trust a company representative?
Anyway. These franchises usually sell bags of ice for less than two dollars. You can drive up and get your frozen water, then go home to make cocktails or have a cup of tea.
