Escape the Winter
Winter brings delicious food, beautiful backdrops, and the best Australian wine.
As the winter months approach, we share two winter escapes where you can enjoy the best wines grown in Australian wineries.
Angas Plains Wines Cellar Doors
Angas Plains Wines is the first stop, located in the beautiful Angas Plains countryside, about an hour from Adelaide. You can find everything you need to enjoy a wonderful lunch while sampling the local gown wines.
You can enjoy sweeping views of the vineyards and gardens as you dine alfresco.
The menu is described as contemporary, but it’s designed to match the fantastic selection of whites and wines from home.
You should visit the cellar for a tasting and then have a meal to enjoy your selections before returning to the basement to purchase your wine.
Angas Plains Wines, open from Thursday to Monday, 11 am-5 pm, is a great place to spend the winter weekend.
Merilba Estate Cellar Door
Merilba Estate Wines is located 1 hour north of Tamworth, in NSW’s stunning New England region.
Merilba’s Vineyard, located at 860m, produces grapes suitable for every occasion.
Located about 10 minutes from the Vineyard in nearby Kingston, the cellar door offers a contemporary-style menu that complements the wide range of wines.
Before you order your meal at a restaurant or cellar door, do a wine tasting. This will help you to determine the right wine for your palate.
